Management Kits is based on the simple idea that management is a creative practice. If management challenges ever have “one right answer” it is one that must be given and implemented by the organization itself. General management knowledge and best practices provide key resources. For real impact, however, the people who face the challenge need to bring that knowledge to a social process designing solutions by themselves.
As a business design experiment at the intersection of academia and practice the kits translate state of the art thinking into formats that facilitate practitioners’ action learning and design processes. They do not pretend to give definitive answers – but they present key ideas, concepts, approaches, options, and paths in a way that allows users to co-create solutions that are immediately relevant.
Management Kits was founded by Olaf Bach who also leads its editorial and kit design process. With a background of 10 years in management consulting Olaf teaches management and organization design at University of St. Gallen, one of the leading European business schools and as a visiting professor at Berlin based design school Weißensee Art Academy. Olaf was senior project manager at a leading global strategy consulting firm, and has published on topics of globalization, management, and the intersection of economics and creative industries.

Sonya is responsible for the development and design of Management Kits. Sonya has associate level experience in management consulting and a background in applied management research at the University of St. Gallen. She holds an M.A. in Management, Organization Studies and Cultural Theory from the University of St. Gallen and a B.A. in Cultural Studies and Art History from University of Zürich.
